small things of life

Things which surprises and excites me have never been big, they mostly have been small events, things which brings about the child in me.

I never was excited when i got the job, when i was selected in IIT, got my first salary, or when semetester results were decleared, or even when i am getting married. i have been last in my batch to actually check any of these. What excited me at times have been

1. While eating one Lebenese food, the salad(essentially 2 pieces of carrot) had a faint aroma of Olive, and i loved it, not the food but the salad and aroma

2. A border made on piece of most beautifully written paper...not the content but always the border

3. Oneliner which no one else enjoys in a movie

4. One raisin found in Pulao at a Dhaba

i don't know if anyione understand or even i understand why it is so....

heaven called LADAKH

A wonderful trip to Ladakh for 8 days, to be precise a road trip, something i always dreamt of doing. Initially i started it more as a fashion statement but something changed in between trip, as Ladakh always does to people, it became more of a personal trip.

Ladakh amazes you, grips you in its suddeness, in its directness, it has no bars, no inhibitions, its all naked beauty, inconsistent, always changing, unpredictable. Himalayas have not change in last 1000 years, Its firm in its place solid as it was, but unpredictable because you never expected it to be so flexible. Your mind was never prepared to view anything that old to be so versatile and diverse. Changing land escapes every few 100 meters leaves you short of breath (although lack of Oxygen at that height may be one of the reasons too...). suddenly you encounter a full rocky terrain, and next turn its all sandy hill. Ladakh prepares you for life, each turn can be unpredictable and change is so sudden that you are left thinking what lies in next turn always praying for some familiar scene but then its another world yet again. and its these changes which makes ladakh unique and an experience to must have. It teaches you a lot about life and also to be prepared to face these changes and still enjoy the beauty of it.

Its a nice feeling to be at the top of the world, so near to the heightest point on earth. You feel so close to Everest, i can now connect with Everest climber more closely than i ever could before. What it also does is humbles you down. The sheer size of it and your own existence in that universe and vast space is so miniscule, even a slight wind can destroy your name forever.

Few of the strange/interesting observations about leh

1. You find Daru ka Theka even at 4100 mts in desert with 10 ppl living there

2. Don't expect more than 4 tents, even if the route is full of milestones with name of that city

3. Even at that height and remote places every thing is sold at MRP

4. Landscape changes Every 100 mts

5. There is sand desert and sand storms, don't be surprised if your car's rear wheel gets jammed in sand(ours did!!!)

6. You can feel like being in Sci-Fi movie any time

7. As well as western movies, i was longing for western music at that height

8. You invariably miss all your loved ones

9. In 10 Km diameter you would be the only human

10. Ppl are amazing, and locals are most generous guys...
